5th November 2020 - Specialist Stainless Steel Mini Melt Induction Heater

Whether in mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, aviation, steelworks or foundries: steel chips accrue in many machining processes. They are usually contaminated with cooling lubricants like oil or emulsions and often have low bulk densities. Using the Inductelec mini melt system this waste product can be melted down and poured into moulds for recycling. Find out more on this at https://www.inductelec.co.uk/stainless-steel-mini-melt-induction-heater

Specialist Stainless Steel Mini Melt Induction Heater

Stainless Steel is non-degradable and 100% recyclable. Therefore, it is recycled to produce more steel and this process goes on indefinitely. The material is made of nickel, iron, chromium, and molybdenum among other raw materials. These metals are high in demand and therefore stainless steel has high capture rates. Despite extremely high recapture rates, the demand for stainless steel is on the rise, which is an excellent trend because it helps to ensure that the new stainless steel that goes into production today will be recycled in the future.

2nd September 2020 - Automotive Process Induction Shrink Fitting Case Study

Inductelec systems are used in the automotive industry to shrink fit gears and rings. Shrink fitting overview - Metals will generally expand when heated and contract when cooling. This increase in size in response to temperature increase is known as thermal expansion. Induction shrink fitting is where we use this effect to either fit two parts together which are tightly dimensionally toleranced. One component is heated to between 150°C and 300°C which causes it to expand allowing the insertion or overlaying it to the mating component. When the adjoined parts return to ambient temperature, the joint becomes strained and strong shrink fitted. Find out more at www.inductelec.co.uk/automotive-process-induction-shrink-fitting

Automotive Process Induction Shrink Fitting Case Study

13th July 2020 - Induction Brazing of Hydraulic Fittings Case Study

Inductelec systems are used in the production of hydraulic assemblies used particularly in large scale, construction machinery. Induction brazing is the ideal technique for joining steel parts where welding is not suitable. A well-designed induction brazed steel joint provides many benefits including part geometry integrity and lower part stress. Steel typically has a high resistivity - therefore it couples well to induction energy and heats easily. However, the thermal conductivity is usually low so the induction brazing of steel parts should not be rushed. With steel, it is important the heat is given time to soak through to the joint surface for proper flow and wetting out of the braze material.

Find out more at https://www.inductelec.co.uk/induction-brazing-of-hydraulic-fittings.

Induction Brazing of Hydraulic Fittings Case Study

What are the Benefits?

  • Energy efficiency
  • Accurate and repeatable delivery of heat
  • Uniform heat giving predictable brazed joints
  • Precise control of cycle times ensuring minimal scale formation
  • Minimised heat times for each component size
  • Temperature control is accurate with precise control of ramp-up times and holding temperatures
  • Data logging giving the output parameters of every component produced
  • Fewer reject parts as all aspects of the process can be monitored
  • Ease of integration into an existing production cell
  • Improved quality
  • Only narrowly defined areas are heated, leaving adjacent areas and materials unaffected
  • Correctly brazed joints are strong, leak-proof and corrosion resistant
  • Joints are very neat, usually requiring no further milling, grinding or finishing
