What is RF Induction?
The term "RF Induction" is traditionally used to describe induction generators designed to work in the frequency range from 100kHz up to 10mHz, in practical terms however the band these days tends to cover 100kHz to 200kHz. Inductelec produce a whole range of power units from 3kW up to 100kW in this frequency band. These units are called the "Ultratec" range and are used for a wide range of applications:
- Skin Hardening
- Adhesive & Paint Drying
- Shrink Fitting
- Sample Melting
- Forging of Small Components
- General heat treatment of components including shafts, bearings, gears and various motor car components
The "Ultratec" is a range of solid state IGBT and MOSFET equipment and features a digital control system.

Typical solid state Ultratec system with low impedance safe output. Available in 2.5Kw to 48Kw, 30KHz to 200KHz. Ultratec addresses all issues relating to old valve machines including smaller footprint, reliability, efficiency and safety. All units are CE and fully compliant with latest UK and European Safety Directives.
How big are RF Induction Heater Generators?
The units are very compact and take up very little floor space, can be introduced into existing production lines with a minimum of disruption. A typical installation includes the power unit, a work head on a flexible umbilical lead a coil and a work station or mechanical handling unit together a free standing cooler. This unit is very easy to use and ensures complete repeatability and process control. The power output is controlled, process time is controlled and when necessary the temperature can be monitored and controlled via a closed loop temperature control system.
What are the Frequency Bands of RF Induction Heaters?
As previously stated the "Ultratec" range covers the frequency band from 100kHz up to 350kHz. For lower frequencies, typically 1kHz up to 10kHz, we have another range of power units rated from 25kW up to 500kW. These units are used for large forging operations, melting and deep case hardening 2mm and deeper, bending of large tubes and melting. Again the power output is digitally controlled and variable to suit customer requirements. These units are normally referred to as "MF Inverters" and are very compact and easy to use. The power, time and temperature can be controlled ensuring a high yield of parts produced.
Auxiliary equipment & services of RF Induction Heaters
All Inductelec Power Units can be interfaced with most PLC's via a man/machine interface. Inductelec also designs and manufactures a range of handling systems including rotary indexing tables, horizontal/vertical shaft hardeners, conveyor systems, shuttle systems and twin output systems to increase productivity. To complete the installation, Inductelec can supply air blast water coolers, chillers and complete water cooling systems if the customer does not have suitable clean water cooled system.
